About Trustee Hernandez Alexander

Dr. Noemi Hernandez Alexander is a lifelong educator, parent, and President of the Riverside Unified School District Board of Education. A first-generation college graduate and daughter of Mexican immigrants, she has spent more than 20 years serving students across K–12 schools, community colleges, and universities. Noemi brings the experience of a teacher, administrator, scholar, parent, and advocate committed to student opportunity, safe schools, accountability, and strong public education.

Why I Am Running

I am seeking re-election to the RUSD Governing Board because I want to continue the momentum of student success that we have achieved.

I have dedicated my career to empowering students and educators as a professor, education administrator, and school board member. As a parent of RUSD students, I am personally invested in the safety and success of every student.

While on the School Board, I have worked to strengthen our district’s financial position, promote accountability, improve graduation rates, and expand support for special education. We have made significant investments  and have expanded options to Career Technical Education (CTE) like welding, cybersecurity, construction, trades, biomedical, culinary, sports medicine, game design, automotive, and the arts. In collaboration with our colleges and city partners, we are investing in aviation pathways for high school students. We’ve been intentional in preparing students with the skills necessary to thrive in college and career.

During my term, we have implemented new safety protocols and facility improvements that have made our campuses safer for all.

I believe that student success is achieved when parents, teachers, students, and community partners work together. I am honored to have the support of the Riverside City Teachers Association, the California School Employees Association, the Riverside Police Officers’ Association, and many community partners. Together, we can ensure every student is safe, supported, and prepared for what comes next.

Thank you for your trust and the privilege of serving our community.
